OpenPrint

  1. Click on Print (Print dialog box should appear on screen). Go to Properties. Dialog box will change to show options. You should see a Fonts button. Check box or option labeled: 'Disable device fonts.' Then Print (Ok). This should fix the problem.
  2. With a document open on your Mac, choose File Print. If you see a Show Details button, click it. Click the print options pop-up menu (at the top of the light gray box), then choose Media & Quality. Click the Feed from pop-up menu, then choose Manual Feed.
  3. Unlike the preinstalled Mac programs, the two sided printing options is hidden within the settings of the Word program. If you open the print dialog box and Click the lowest selection box - Copies & Pages, Select Layout from the drop-down menu.
  4. On your Mac, if the printer is on the network, choose Apple menu System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners. Add the printer again to create a new printer queue. If you can print to the newly added printer queue, delete the old printer queue.
My husband has an Intel Mac Mini that has issues. He can't open the print dialog box from any application--Mail, Firefox, Quickbooks, Word, etc. He can't print anything at all because the dialog box won't open when selecting and or clicking the print icon if there is one in that application. I deleted the printers and reinstalled the drivers...nothing. I upgraded from OS 10.7 to 10.8...again nothing. I zapped the pram...still nothing. I've been using Macs for 15 years and this issue has got me stumped. Any suggestions?

Try an empty doc (1 blank page); see if you can get into the Print Dialog. Maybe not much relevant but also try to Print To PDF from another application.
